Thomas Hardy (1840–1928) was an English novelist and poet known for his novels set in the fictional county of Wessex. His works, including “Tess of the d’Urbervilles” and “Far from the Madding Crowd,” explored themes of fate, society, and the human condition. Hardy is regarded as one of the greatest novelists of the Victorian era.
