Sinclair Lewis (1885–1951) was an American novelist and playwright known for his satirical works, including “Main Street” and “Babbitt.” He was the first American to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Lewis’s writings often critiqued the conformity and materialism of American society in the early 20th century.
