Lafcadio Hearn (1850–1904) was a Greek-born writer and journalist who spent much of his life in the United States and Japan. He is known for his writings on Japanese culture and folklore, including “Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things.” Hearn’s work helped introduce Japanese culture to Western audiences.
