Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was a British author best known for creating the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes. His Sherlock Holmes stories, including “A Study in Scarlet” and “The Hound of the Baskervilles,” remain among the most famous detective fiction ever written. Conan Doyle also wrote historical novels and science fiction.
