James Madison (1751–1836) was an American statesman, political theorist, and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He played a key role in drafting the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights and is often called the “Father of the Constitution.” Madison’s writings on government and federalism are foundational to American political thought.
